Our group company, The CEIP, has been working in partnership with Mr. Ali Ahmed, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Cardiff on the setting up of the Bangladesh UK Environmental Foundation. We will be working with the new trust; the only UK registered trust focused on environmental issues in Bangladesh to enable diaspora financing of selected projects.
We are very pleased to be launching this Foundation in Cardiff on 20th April 2015 and London on May 12th.
The Commonwealth Environmental Investment Platform (www.theceip.com), chaired by Michael Sippitt, is steadily growing, and now has over half the 53 Commonwealth nations within the scope of its 14 hubs around the world.
The Platform is designed to help sustainable development in the Commonwealth through establishing connections for trade and investment with particular focus on innovation, sustainable technologies and helping build social and economic resilience to deal with the serious challenges facing many countries this century. We are delighted to be working so closely with such a proactive community as the Bangladeshi community of South Wales.
The Bangladeshi diaspora links in Wales have also stimulated recent contacts in South Wales regarding Islamic finance services, including a new link up with the Muslim Council of Wales, and we are liaising closely with Ash Arif (Clarkslegal expert on Islamic finance and commercial arrangements) to develop these contacts and attract Islamic funded business.”
